Big changes coming to convention this year

Our goal is to use your feedback to make every convention better than the last. As a result, we've made some major changes this year.

Only two award ceremonies!

We’re cutting the number of award banquets down from four to two. We’ll honor all of our external award recipients on Thursday—that includes our legislators, business and industry partners, alumni and awards of distinction. Then on Friday at lunch, we’ll honor all of our internal award recipients, which includes our administrative professionals, classified staff, faculty, senior service and trustee award recipients.

More time to network and connect

Fewer award ceremonies means more time for you to connect and share ideas with peers from across the state. There will be no program at either breakfast or at lunch on Thursday, in order to give you ample time to talk with your peers and meet our sponsors and exhibitors.

More meals for your money

We’re serving up five meals this year instead of four, including two plated breakfasts, two plated lunches, and a boxed lunch on Wednesday if you plan to attend a business meeting. Dinner will be on your own both nights, so you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy Branson’s many restaurants and entertainment options.

We’re going green with a convention app

It’s time to take this event into the 21st Century! We’re going all out on this year’s convention app, and downsizing the convention booklet. You will want to bring a mobile device or laptop, so you can access session information, connect with other attendees and build your convention schedule.

More diverse and relevant sessions

We’ve introduced new breakout session types and tracks targeted specifically at faculty and classified staff. With out-of-state travel budgets being restricted across the state, we’re working harder than ever to make sure convention is relevant to a wider range of college employees. This means not only a broader range of content, but we’re also asking presenters to try some new formats other than just the traditional lecture or panel discussion.
