Missouri Community College Association Names New Director of Communication

 Today, President and CEO Brian Millner announced that Katy Alexander has been named as the new director of communication for the Missouri Community College Association. 

Alexander will help steward the MCCA brand identity through a comprehensive communications strategy that support’s the association’s advocacy and member experience goals.

“We are excited to welcome Katy to MCCA,” Millner said. “The ability to communicate effectively as a sector of higher education and amplify the messages of our individual colleges is critical to our success as an association. Katy’s background in communication and ability to craft messages for a variety of platforms and audiences will be a huge asset to our team.”

Alexander joins MCCA from the Office of Missouri Governor Michael L. Parson with a background in writing and communication. As part of the communications team, Alexander prepared numerous speeches, statements, press releases, and other official communications on behalf of the Governor’s Office, including 100 unique COVID-19 press briefing scripts and two State of the State Addresses. Prior to her time in the Governor’s Office, Alexander served as a content coordinator for the Missouri Department of Economic Development.

“I am honored and thrilled to join the MCCA team and be a champion for the association and its members,” Alexander said. “A storyteller at heart, I am passionate about helping people create and share meaningful messages, and I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues to share all the great stories there are to be told about Missouri’s colleges.”

Alexander is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism with an emphasis in strategic communication. She currently lives in Jefferson City with her fiancé and beloved German Shepherd.
